Effective July 25, 2026 · Contors LLC
This Privacy Policy explains how Contors LLC ("Contors," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Contors website and app (the "Service"). By using the Service, or by checking the box to accept it at sign-up, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Account information: the name and email address you provide, and authentication identifiers (including if you sign in with Google).
Your map content: the markers, stands, routes, zones, notes, observations, photos, and journal entries you create, including their coordinates.
Precise location data: if you enable it, your device's GPS location, used to show your position, navigate, and pull local weather and elevation. Precise geolocation is treated as sensitive information. You control this through your browser or device permissions.
Usage & device data: basic technical information needed to operate and secure the Service, such as app interactions, errors, last-saved timestamps, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser/device type, and log data.
Payment & subscription information: if you start a free trial or purchase a Paid Plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects and processes your payment details directly. We receive and store only limited billing records — such as your subscription tier and status, trial and renewal dates, the last four digits and brand of your card, and your billing country. We never receive or store full payment-card numbers.
Invitations you send: if you invite someone to Contors, or to a property you own, we process the email address you supply in order to send that one message, and we keep a record of the invitation so we can show you whether it was taken up. Invitees are not added to any marketing list and receive nothing further unless they sign up.
Email activity: we log the account emails we send you (for example, welcome, trial-ending, receipt, and password-reset messages) and their delivery status, so we can confirm delivery and avoid sending duplicates.
We use your information to: provide, sync, secure, and maintain the Service; save and restore your maps; generate weather, elevation, and AI ("Scout") suggestions you request; process payments and manage subscriptions; communicate with you about the Service, including service and security notices; prevent fraud and abuse; comply with law; and improve the Service. We do not sell or rent your personal information, we do not use Your Content to train AI models, and Contors does not display third-party advertising.
Where required (for example, in the EEA/UK), we process personal data on these bases: to perform our contract with you (providing the Service); your consent (for example, precise location); our legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service and preventing abuse); and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time, for example by disabling location access.
Location is used only to provide map and planning features (your position, navigation, local forecast, elevation). To do this, coordinates may be sent to our map, weather, elevation, and geocoding providers. Coordinates you save as markers, routes, or zones are stored as part of your map content under your account. With your permission, we also read your device’s compass and motion sensors to show which direction you are facing on the map; this is processed on your device and is not stored or transmitted. You can disable location access at any time in your browser or device settings; some features may not work without it.
We use cookies and local storage for essential purposes only — to keep you signed in, remember your settings, and cache map data so the app works offline. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser, but disabling them may affect how the Service works.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only: (a) with service providers and data sources that process information on our behalf or supply data to operate the Service; (b) when you use sharing features — the "invite a hunting partner" link and live shared maps share a map only with the people you choose; (c) to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights, safety, and security; and (d) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
Our service providers and data sources fall into these categories:
Cloud hosting, database and authentication · Website and application hosting · Payment processing and subscription billing (Stripe) · Transactional email delivery · Error and crash diagnostics · Artificial-intelligence processing (the model that powers Scout) · Weather and forecast data · Satellite and topographic imagery, place search and geocoding · Sign-in providers, if you choose to use one · Parcel boundary and landowner records · Public federal and state map data, including U.S. government sources · App distribution and mobile update delivery
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies, and act on our instructions. We will identify the specific provider in any category on request — email info@contors.com. We update these categories as our providers change; the version on this page is current as of the effective date above.
When you ask Scout a question, relevant information about your map and your question is sent to our AI provider to generate a response. We do not use Your Content to train AI models, and our AI provider does not use data submitted through its business API to train its models. AI output may be inaccurate — see our Terms of Use.
Unlimited plans can view parcel boundaries and the associated public land-ownership record — owner name, mailing address, parcel number, and acreage — sourced from Regrid from county assessor and recorder records. This information is public record. Contors does not create, verify, or correct it, and records may lag recent filings.
To limit repeat requests to our data provider, parcel records retrieved through the Service are cached on our servers. They are used only to answer requests within the Service, are never sold, and are not used for marketing. We do not provide landowner telephone numbers or email addresses.
If you are a landowner and believe a record about your property is inaccurate, the authoritative source is your county assessor; corrections made there flow through to our provider. To ask about information we hold about you, email info@contors.com.
We retain your account and map data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete your associated map data from active systems within a reasonable period, and we instruct our service providers to delete information they hold on our behalf. Some providers retain limited records for a period under their own retention schedules and legal obligations — for example completed payment and tax records, and email delivery logs. We may also retain certain information where we must do so to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.
Your account and map data are stored with our cloud provider and transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Some data may also be cached locally on your device. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your information.
You can view and edit your account and map data at any time in the app. You can delete your account and its associated data using "Delete my account & all data" in your account settings, or by contacting us; see Section 8 for the limited records we or our providers must keep. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, email info@contors.com; we will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, access, correct, and delete your personal information, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. In the past 12 months we may have collected the categories described in Section 1 — identifiers, customer records, internet/usage activity, precise geolocation, and the content you create — for the purposes in Section 2. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not knowingly process the personal information of minors. You can exercise your rights via the methods in Section 10, may use an authorized agent, and we will verify requests as required by law.
We operate in the United States, and your information will be processed and stored in the U.S. and other countries where we or our providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to this processing.
The Service is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals. The Service may link to third-party sites or services we do not control; their practices are governed by their own privacy policies.
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
